Owens upset with Coach Reid, Eagles respond

From his driveway, Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens gave a brief interview to Inquirer reporter Keith Pompey: “I mean, if he (Reid) wants to be a man about it and really have me go on the air and tell people what happened, then I can."

“But it was a difference of opinion. I think the report is now that I was blowing my fans off. That's not the case. My fans have been great. They have been great.”

“When I was out there on the field, I was attending to my business. They are telling me to go out there and perform and go out there and practice.”“I'm not going into further detail about the altercation.”

Owens, in an interview, indicated he was asked to leave camp until next Wednesday.

A few moments ago, the Eagles issued a two-line statement: “Terrell Owens has been sent home from training camp due to undisclosed team issues. He is expected to return to the team on Wednesday, August 17th.”

Owens leaves Eagles training camp

Comcast Sports is reporting that Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens exchanged words with Head Coach Andy Reid at a team meeting this afternoon and the receiver then was kicked out of the session.
He left camp, according to the report.

Rookie Brown getting some looks

Rookie wide receiver Reggie Brown is fighting to make the team and he is gaining a lot of attention during training camp. Today, both head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Donovan McNabb mentioned Brown and his progress in their news conferences.

When McNabb was asked whether his mastery of the offense has taken pressure off of the young wide receiver to learn the offense:
“I think it takes a little bit of pressure off a guy like Reggie Brown. When (Todd Pinkston) Pink came in, I was just learning the offense and I had been a couple of years in. So, they were throwing in different wrinkles and trying different things. You are trying to visualize it and make sure the guy is in the right position at the right time. Now I am able to, before we get out of the huddle, just make sure Reggie knows what route he is running and rest of the guys as well. I can make sure we are on the same page and give him an idea that if we get certain coverage, he might get the ball if he’s not the first or second read. I think it does take a lot of pressure off a guy like Reggie and the rest of the guys as well.”

Reid said this of Brown: “He is getting better every day. He hit a little bit of a wall there and now he is working through that and made a nice catch today. He did some nice things today. He is getting better.”

Coach Reid says injuries are nothing new at camp

Today, Head Coach Andy Reid gave this litany of injuries reported during Eagles training camp at Lehigh University.

“[DT] Darwin Walker was the flu and we got a couple guys with it here and he had it the worst. We are going to try to get him over that and we will see in the next day or so what happens.

[RB] Correll Buckhalter is still out with the knee contusion and we are going to see how he does here in the next little bit. We are going to recheck that thing and see if there is not something else in there. [S] Sean Considine is still out with the slight separation of the shoulder. [CB] Rod Hood was gone with some personal reasons and he comes back today and we will see how he is here. [G/C] Jamaal Jackson has a tricep tear, still out and will be out. [RB] Ryan Moats with a concussion did not practice today. That is day to day.

[WR] T.O., you saw him doing some things out here. We will see how he does in the next couple of days.

[WR] Todd [Pinkston], you know Todd had the surgery on the Achilles tendon, everything went well there.

[DT] Sam Rayburn had the hyperextended elbow and is getting better, but again, it is going to take a couple days. [LB] Greg Richmond, lower back, it’s slow right now. It’s not doing really well and we just have to see how he does in the next week or so. [T Jon] Runyan had a concussion yesterday, slight concussion, should be back here in the next day or so. [T] Tra Thomas still has the blood clot situation. Today, [DT] Martin Patterson went out with a low back strain. [DT] Hollis Thomas and [DT Keyonta] Marshall were both affected by the heat.”

Reid said the number of injuries this year is nothing extraordinary.
