The Panthers over the Eagles?

Sports Illustrated says the Eagles will go 10-6, win the NFC East in a tiebreaker
with 10-6 Dallas, get a bye, beat the Atlanta Falcons in the Divisional Playoffs, and then lose on the road to the 12-4 Panthers in the NFC Championship Game.
Then they have Carolina winning it all over Indianapolis Colts.
Do you see this scenario?

10-6? The worst record since Andy's first year? I think not with the talent on this team. Eagles should take 4 of 6 in the division and beat Atlanta, Frisco, Oakland, Green Bay, Seattle, and Arizona without much trouble. That's 10 wins right there. Their remaining opponents are KC, San Diego, Denver, and St. Louis. Figure they split those and that's a 12-4 season, far more realistic under Big Reid.

They get the bye, beat the Rams (who beat the 5th Seed Falcons), and win the NFC over the Vikings (who beat the 3rd Seed Panthers who beat the 6th Seed Cardinals). Then they face the Chiefs in Detroit, and Vermeil goes 1 for 3 in Superbowls.

10-6??? Are you kidding me? At worst, they'll probably be 12-4. And they beat the Vikings in the NFC Championship game. As for the Super Bowl, I see them coming up against the Jets. Pennington's going to have a full season and with Ty Law on the team, they're going to be dangerous.

The national press is just itching for Dallas to get back into the thick of things, but its not happening this year. A more likely scenario is that Atlanta and Carolina both go 10-6 fighting it out for their division, and the Eagles knock off whoever is left in the championship game. As far as the Cryboys go, Arizona has a better shot at the playoffs than Dallas - their defense will be better than Dallas', and although Kurt Warner is washed up, Drew Bledsoe isn't much better.

Sounds like someone at SI has been taking puffs from the Peyote that grows out west.

Of course SI said the Iggles would go 10-6 last year as well...

Who do the Panthers have that makes them the NFC representative or even better the Super Bowl Champs this coming season? Most of the guys that write these articles and give their predictions don't have a clue about the game. They are the people when at a younger age sat and watched people play a sport. All they know is what other people say and write.

10-6, what a joke. 12-4 at worst, SI is clueless.

And they wonder why their circulation is falling.

Jake Delhomme is a good QB with a solid supporting staff.A stiff defense well.
Donovan McNabb is a great QB with a current passer rating of 138 or thereabouts. Our D beats their D.
TO trumps their DBs and opens it up like a boiled pea.
Done deal.We definitely have a target on our backs but I think we're up to it.
Wish we had another RB who can make 3rd and 2s(I think we had several 3rd and 2s in the SB and we gacked on most of them)less a drama.
Other than that, SI is trying to be out front and sell mags. That's all.

Carolina collapsed last year with their injuries. The Eagles consistantly overcome adversity (5-1 w/o #5 in 2002). Two completely different teams. 13-3 (2004 would have been 15-1 if they played the starters in the last two games) again and a trip to Detroit.

The Birds will not loose 6 games in the regular season and Carolina is the fashionable pick this year. Big difference winning games last year when it meant nothing for them vs. this year when they are expected too. Eagles will win 13 again this year and the NFC title will go through Philly.

Just seems to me like SI trying to go out on a limb, A lot of other mags ( i think espn) has it more likely the eagles get there again but they almost sound sad about that. Like they really wanna pick against them but can't. Dallas is always a fashinable pick and the media mostly love parcels (can't figure out why he's been good, but great? I dunno) This is basically SI going on a limb. It's an easy risk, if carolina collapses they won't take much heat because you can easily say "they looked good on paper", and if carolina does well they can say "told ya so". There's always someone out there bucking the trend.

I think 10-6 is realistic. They will drop as many as 3 in the divison (yes Dallas and Deadskins will not be a joke this year. We saw it last year when we played them the last two times, even with TO we were lucky to pull out those games. The NFC is getting better and better and the Birds have benfited from a weak NFC the past few years. Hate to say it but its true. Its nice to see them win but they just are not an elite team yet. Close dont count. Just being realistic.

realistic? 10-6 is not realistic. want to look at the NFC East? and there are ppl that actually believe the cockroaches and skins actually look decent enough to make a run for it? 11-5 is the worst possible record i can possibly see objectively looking at our schedule. also, i too am a little worried about the MNF Falcs game. i personally wouldn't be surprised at a loss. but an early regular season loss has typically been the kick that we've needed to succeed later on.

If TO and Mcnabb hash things out , it will be 13-3. I think SI feels that troubled relationship will cost Eagles the superbowl. Goddamm Iggles, just pay TO the money and let us go to detroit. It is not like they are cutting our ticket prices saving all that money! And the freak needs to show up this yr big, He has escaped criticism bcos of TO's antics! Mcnabb has been glorified bcos of TO's rants. He needs to get his butt in gear and not "poop out" like he did in the SB. Love him or Hate him TO was rite when he said Mcnabb was the one who got tired and that cost us our SB!

no way carolina even gets that far....jake delhomme is way overrated....

actually the defense getting tired in the second half cost us the superbowl. No pressure whatsoever on brady in the second half and he picked us apart. It shouldn't have come down to the end in the first place.
