Favre (Deanna) disses Philly

Wow, you're reputation must not be good when the wife of a player on a team 1,000 miles away takes a shot at you. During a feel-good public appearance, no less.

Deanna Favre, the wife of Green Bay quarterback Brett who has been battling cancer and other family hardships for the past year, was the guest speaker last night at a women's lecture series sponsored by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Here's how she concluded her remarks, as reported by the Journal Sentinel:
--------
In a question-and-answer session after her talk, Favre admitted that the public eye, while intrusive, isn't so bad in Green Bay - even now.

"Most of the time people are really friendly. People say nice things," she said. "It could be worse. We could be in Philly or somewhere."
--------

The trouble is, you can't even rip her due to her recent personal hardships -- breast cancer, burying her younger brother and housing 50 family members in her Mississippi home during Hurricane Katrina.

Can you?

Where is the diss? She's right, the public eye is more scrutinizing and proudly so. Embrace the comment.

Seems to me the suggestion is that people in Philly wouldn't be "really friendly" or "say nice things."

Sounds like a diss to me.

the way I look at it is. she meant that EAGLES fans we are more agressive with comments and roudy when the team is doing bad and we show it not as in philly being a bad place to be

She may be upset that the Daily News pointed out some failing of her husband.

I think it really sucks that she said that about Philly. Ok its a tough sports town with passionate fans but I still take exception to anyone putting Philly down in anyway especially if you have never lived here before.

I'm sure it's just another case of the wife or girlfriend of a sports figure defending their man (a la Charlie Manuel's fiancee). These people seem to forget that unless it's really warranted, any criticism levied on an athlete has everyting to do with their performance and is not personal. I'm actually kind of proud that we were mentioned instead of New York where the media will rip you first and ask questions later.

WHY DOES IT SEAM THAT THE SPORT WORLD HAS A BAD THING TO SAY ABOUT PHILADELPHIA? ITS ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER . LIKE MEDIA , FANS AND OUR SPORTS TEAMS . WE " THE PHILADEPHIAN KNOW THAT WE BEEN THROUGH SOME HARD TIMES WITH OUR SPORTS TEAMS . I SAY " ONLY THE PEOPLE OF PHILLY HAVE TO RIGHT TO SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT OUR TEAMS. NOT BRET FARVE WIFE OR ANYBODY ELS PERIOD .

To: anonymous from a few former posts,

Why does it SEAM that you flunked out of second grade?

Amazing how brett and deanna can just bring out the worst in us...

So what. When did the people of our great city get so flustered at the outside world? First Shawn Barber's NON STORY, now this.

Seriously, the writers of the Daily News and others need to find something else to write about.

How about writing about all the Super Bowl champions who passed 66% of the time and disn't have a ball control offense? Oh right. There's never been one.

Quit bitching about every little thing you hear. Get a hobby.

I have to agree with the last post. The Philly writers are always trying to stir something. And it's true about what Deanna said - we all know in Philly if a player is doing poorly, we let them know about it (anyone remember booing Mike Schmidt - only the greatest third baseman - because he was in a slump?)

Poor woman. Look at all those impossible obstacles.
Breast cancer
Losing her brother
Helping all those hurricaine victims in her family
Being married to a washed-up empty husk of what once used to be an NFL quaterback and knowing that he will return to drinking heavily about 13 seconds after he retires.
All this while being a brainless spoiled bimbo.

Wow, look at that. Turns out that I can rip her after all.

Wah, Wah, Wah!

Money obviously can't but class, tact or dignity. You reap what you sew!

Seems to me by the majority of your posts, you proved her right!
