It's Wait Until 2007 For The Eagles

Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young missed the team flight to Philadelphia on Saturday, saying he forgot his I.D. and then got stuck behind a funeral procession.
Young found his way to Philadelphia, only to attend another funeral - one for the Eagles. At 5-5, after Sunday's 31-13 pasting by the Titans, the Eagles season is over, although we said that after they lost at Tampa Bay and again against Jacksonville. Some people still won't believe it.
If anybody is counting, the Eagles have lost to two teams that currently stand at 3-7, Tennessee and Tampa Bay.
And now they have lost Donovan McNabb for the year. The Eagles signed Jeff Garcia to be his backup and hailed him as one of the best backup quarterbacks in the NFL, citing the three Pro Bowls on his resume.
Yet it has been since 2002 that Garcia actually played with a winning team, when he guided San Francisco to a 10-6 record.
Garcia came in relief of McNabb during Sunday's loss to Tennessee and showed an arm with little zip. He completed 26 of 48 passes for 189 yards and a TD, but this once big-strike offense, now will take days to reach the end zone with Garcia.
And even if he reverts to his 49er form, there is no guarantee that the Eagles defense will suddenly spring to life.
Tennessee gained 209 yards on the ground, the same total Jacksonville did on Oct. 29 in a 13-6 win over the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field. And the special teams allowed a 90-yard punt return for a TD against Tennessee in a continued season of inconsistency.
So the Eagles, who used to have a real home field advantage, are now 3-3 at the Linc.
For the season straight year, the season has ended way too early for the Eagles. And this time, Vince Young wasn't late, when attending this football funeral.

Yep, I think it is officially over for them. They just aren't good, or at least not consistent enough to be any good.

Not sure what to do, as a fan. Do I tune in just to see what is the 'next thing', especially after having spent 250 bucks on the Sunday Ticket (I am in the DC area), or do I simply mail in the rest of the season and just wait for Feb. 20 when the Fightins' P's and C's report?

I guess what I am trying to say is that should I get excited about Garcia or pray that lightning strikes twice with Touchy Feeley? Only time will tell.

It is certainly disspointing from a fans perspective. Even with McNabb in there the Eagles were listless. They are a poorly disciplined team taking way too many penalties. Based on this years performance to date, pregame preparation has been poor to say the least.

I see only a few Eagles playing up to potential. Seems to me that Reid has lost the heart of this team. Time to plan for the future starting today.

I'm totally dissapointed ! All the talk is completely meaningless. Is
our window shut for the next 10 years ? probably , based on the crap that is displayed weekly. Whens the last time Philly has beaten an serious legit team ? Penalties and dropped passed, the inability for the D to get off the field...SAD !

I like the fact that Donny Mac is done. It will allow one of other QB's a chance. That least neither of them throw bone-head INTs of aim for the ankles. Now all we need is a head coach. And can anybody tell me why Chunky Reid called the plays this week. You'd think he would continue going with Marty, after we whupped the Redskins two weeks ago? He is dumb as a bag of rock.

i actually was excited at the fact that AJ Feely would get the start,, but no!! another boneheaded mover from AR,, why start a QB with a poor arm and happy feet???
garcia was a joke in detroit and in cleveland.. what makes him think he could lead this team,, not to mention he was horrendous in the preseason!! it just keeps getting worse for us,,, i hope to the NFL gods that that blob of brainless pooh gets fired at seasons end,, bring in Gruden and rid ourselves of Dihani jones, Dawkins lets start over,, why keep fooling us in the preseason by saying this team is going to be good, cocede the season and get a early draft pick, pick a RB in the 1st a QB in the second and for GOD sake find a LB that is more interested in tackeling then bow tieing..
AJ Feeley deserves the start because of what he did 4 years ago,, but as usual The Big blob in the black jumpsuite is afraid to hurt feelings,,, AR please quit as HC your a joke and i can't wait to see you gone!!!!!!!!!

I say don't give up. Look at this season thus far: early the birds looked like the class of the nfc east, then the giants did, now the the cowchicks do. there is still plenty of football to be played, and we are in control of our own destiny. perhaps with a simiplified game plan, more running and no more faith that DMac will pull a miracle drive....we can get some more consistent play and still be competitive. I say TUNE IN.
