Waiting For Next Year Can Wait

The past few weeks, when the games mean nothing, at least concerning a postseason berth, the same comments could be heard from one locker to another by virtually all the Eagles. Yes, the game didn't have actual importance, but the players are still taking this seriously, even though the Eagles are 5-8 team playing another 5-8 squad, the St. Louis Rams.
"I don't care if it's kickball, if you have somebody with different jersey, you want to beat them," Eagles defensive end N.D. Kalu said.
This is true, but there is another reason why so many Eagles don't want to letdown in the final three games - their livelihood is at stake.
The days where a player could pack it in late in the season are over. There are too many other players out there looking for employment.
Even veterans such as Eagles offensie tackle Jon Runyan can't take the final three weeks off. Runyan will be a free agent next season and if the Eagles don't re-sign him, there are 31 other teams to attempt to impress. No doubt his resume, which includes 141 consecutive NFL starts, will catch the eye of some teams if the Eagles choose to look in a different direction to fill their right tackle spot.
Unlike this season, next year's training camp should have a number of jobs on the line, both for the starters and reserves. This is the time for the players to accumulate a few extra brownie points with the coaching staff.
So even though there isn't the drama associated with a team on a playoff run, the players are approaching these games as their lives depended on it.
Many know if they want to remain in the NFL, then they can't be doggin' it the final three games. That is why the play should be spirited in St. Louis and the final two weeks in Arizona and home against Washington.
It may not produce the best of results, but the effort should be there. The Eagles coaches made it a point to tell the players that such a lackluster performance as their 42-0 loss to Seattle on Monday Night Football, won't be tolerated anymore.
And that is why the players on the Eagles do have a sense of urgency, even though they won't have anywhere to go in a football-sense, after New Year's Day.

the more you think about what DMac has done and and utimatly what he's capable of doing, the eagles are better off drafting a QB for the near future,, although he has shown signs of "wow" and amazment he also has decided in recent years to try to be a "pocket QB" now i think that's great that he wants to try these things,,, but at what cost,,, his dam set against running has hurt this team in more ways then the 5-8 record that has them in last place,, his bickering with TO has just made things worse,, not to mention his being scared to have surgery in the begining of the season which he would have healed by mid season and could have come back healthy say by week 7 or 8 and i'm sure they could have been a 500 team at that point,, especially knowing that he is coming back healthy,
how does a Organization allow him to play hurt,,, and ultimatly hurt thr team wih his play? it makes no sense,, and as a die hard makes me think twice about what this organization is doing,
as for the organization,,, TO deserved a new contract, he gave MCNabb his best year as a "pocket" QB,, the fact that TO had to reach above and behind and over his head to catch mcnabbs bad throws has to mean something,,, although how TO handled this was wrong,, he was the best WR in he NFL and still is,, what he did in the SB was amazing and how the organization does not reconize what he did and reward him for that is beyond me,,,I DON'T WANT TO BE AN EAGLES FAN ANYMORE,, but easier said then done right,,why disect a wonderful thing if it works because of spite...

i second that! the organization is fucking things up,, andy reid has no right calling plays,, he's cluless in that regard, this teams needs to be cleaned out from the bottom up,,,now i must root for the team playing the giants,, may pain and more int's be in Eli's future,,,
go team,,,,playing the Giants

Hey boys, big win yesterday! I bet your all in a great mood after that display of great football i saw in St Louis......omg that was the saddest thing i've ever seen in my life. LOL. Hahahahaha! E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles! LOL. All your team did was cost you a couple of spots in the draft. LOL. Omg that team is so pathetic. LOL. Dont worry boys theres always NEXT YEAR. LOL. Thats all i ever hear from Eagles fans, next year, next year, next year, next year, next year. Its been like 40 next years and still no Super Bowl for Philly. LOL. But look at the bright side beagles fans, at least you guys have a cool fight song to sing to eachother. LOL. E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles! LOL LOL LOL. By the way did you see that display of great football on Saturday put on by the Giants? Wow that was impressive. I bet you were all sitting in awe as Tiki ran for 220. Wish you had him dont you? Thats okay you have Ryan Moats and Reno Mahe, and they're pretty damn good if you ask me. LOL. Oh i almost forgot about Lamar Gordon too. He's really good. LOL. Big game next week for you against Arizona (might be the least watched game in NFL history) LOL. E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles! LOL

PS. I posted this note twice to make sure all you pathetic Eagles fans saw it!

Hey beagles fans....did you hear McNabb had food poisoning last week and threw up like 4 times. When the doctor got to his house he asked McNabb if he had ever felt like this before and McNabb said.....well, there was this one time last January where i felt so sick i threw up. McNabb said he just wished all the other players in the huddle didnt have to watch....LOL. E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles!
Even eagles fans have to admit thats pretty funny. Probably the only QB in NFL history to throw up during a superbowl. LOL. Way to instill confidence in your teammates, Donovan! LOL. I bet you Eagles fans love watching those cute Chunky Soup commercials while your team is getting pummeled every week. LOL

At 11:48 AM, Anonymous May pain and injury's overwhem the giants said...

i hate the commericals,,, they make me want to "throw up" hahahahah,, he's a joke,, coming from this eagles fan,,, he's no better then "slash" or rodney pete!!! hahaha remember him,,, at least he had some accuracy.. oh well,, nice to see the giants D give up 160 yards rushing to LJ,, not sure what the other guy did on the chiefs,,, Tikki looked great, he is without a doubt the best in the game right now,, however you must be concerned over the rushing D 150 to philly last week and 160+ to the chiefs,,, that's tough,, not to mention Eli is struggling,, even though there winning it's clearly due to Tikki,, i give him 1-2 more years before we can start calling him Phil Simms..
Go team playing the G-men...

Hey moron, Phil Simms was a fantastic QB, so im not sure what you meant by that. And our rushing defense is hampered bc our pro bowl middle LB hasnt played for two weeks and our SLB didnt play this week. Once they are back we'll be back to normal (Top 10 against the rush this year). So dont worry about us. Worry about your team, they are hopeless.

"Clean out" the team. Lmfao! They've lost 13 starters and may finish up without a losing record, playing 2nd and 3rd stringers! if you could snap your fingers and win a Super Bowl, 32 teams would win the Super Bowl each year.
Events spiraled out of control with tons of injuries and Flakey the WR's drama queen act, and Reid will still likely end up at 7-9 or 8-8. You must be too young (or old and senile) to remember 3-13. Meanwhile Brown, Moats,1/2 the offensive line, Patterson, and even Cole are getting much-needed seasoning they wouldn't get in a Super Bowl run. This is a re-load season that happens commonly with long-term contenders. The Birds do need to upgrade at LB and WR next year, but they just need some tweaks and rookie seasoning, not a total blow-up.

The only thing that sucked about the Ram's game was alot of inexperienced players on both teams drawing penalties. Other-wise, it was a tight game between 2 similar teams.I like McMahon, he's got cojones. He throws a pick, then comes back and takes another shot downfield. He reminds me of Jim McMahon, but with an arm and legs. He has less starts than Eli Manning, so it's no surprise that he'll throw picks. Reid will groom him for 2 years and trade him for a 3rd or 4th rounder.

A healthy McNabb is as good as you get this side of Peyton, in this league. So quit your griping, there's nothing better out there, nor will there likely be for years to come. Tim Couch was once a can't-miss NFL star. A Westbrook/Moats/Buckhalter(?) backfield is scary, and even a Brown/Pinkston/McMullen trio is an upgrade over Lewis as a #1.
My 2006 prediction: 12-4, win the Super Bowl.

At 1:48 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Wasn't that your prediction for this year? LOL. But i agree with you, NEXT year will definately be the Eagles year. LOL. Just like this year.

At 1:55 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Are all of you Eagle's fans amped up for this weeks big game against Arizona? LOL. How sad that all you have to look forward to is watching your team try to get to .500 (which means absolutely nothing) only to cost themselves draft positions. LOL. Thats okay at least you still have Reno Mahe under contract for a few years. LOL. He's going to be your franchises saving grace. LOL

At 6:25 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hey man the Eagles are going all the way next year! E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles! With Donovan back (throwing up) and Pinky as our number 1 receiver (laughable) our offense is going to be unstoppable. And on defense we've got Kearse (who went from 30 to 40 yrs old this year) and N.D. Kalu (who has 1 sack this year) on the ends and Sam Rayburn in the middle; unstoppable! How about our tremendous linebackers. Dhani Jones (the most overpaid OLB in the game who cant even come close to covering anyone) and Keith Adams (who?) are awesome! We dont need TO, we got Reno Mahe as our go to guy! And with Andy calling the plays (10-1 pass/run ratio), we should be undefeated for sure.

This is the nonsense everyone whose not an Eagles fan is subject to every year after the Eagles come up short and all their fans think NEXT year is THE ONE. Keep on dreaming beagles fans. LOL

E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES! Oh my god im so freakin excited for this weeks game against Arizona. I cant wait to see big green pound on AZ. E-A-G-L-E-S, Eagles! LOL. What a joke all of you beagles fans are. Seems like you have a lot of pent up frustration. Its probably the fact that your football team has been a loser for fourty years and your cities teams are the biggest bunch of losers there are. LOL. Go Philly! How many years has it been since any of you have seen your team win a championship? LOL. Something like 100 cumulative seasons! LOL. And your football team takes the cake. Fourty superbowls and they cant even bring home one? LOL. What a JOKE! All of you Eagles fans should do the rest of the world a favor and shut your big mouths about a team that has accomplished NOTHING in 40 years. Thats right folks, they haven't done squat. LOL. No superbowls. I mean even Tampa has one. Thats not saying much for you guys. But dont worry i have a good feeling NEXT year is your year. LOL.
Here's another Eagles chant, hope it helps for the big game on Sunday against Arizona.
E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles! LOL

The Eagles finally lead the NFL in one category - the number of players on the Injured Reserve list.
With head coach Andy Reid's announcement today that rookie offensive tackle Todd Herremans is on that list, the total number of injured Eagles lost for the season stands at 13.
The Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets and this Saturday's opponent for the Eagles, the Arizona Cardinals, all have 12 players on Injured Reserve.
Herremans fractured his left ankle and sprained a ligament in Sunday's 17-16 win over the St. Louis Rams.
Herremans had started the last four games after Tra Thomas went on the IR with a back injury. Artis Hicks will replace Herremans and slide over from guard to tackle against Arizona, and Adrien Clarke will start at left guard on Saturday.
Reid said that Herremans' spot on the 53-man roster will "most likely" be filled by running back Bruce Perry, who will make the leap from the practice squad.
Perry, a seventh round draft pick in 2004 out of Maryland, spent his entire rookie season on the IR with a shoulder injury. In this preseason he was effective, rushing for 142 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries. But when roster cuts came, he was relegated to the practice squad where he's remained until now.
"The opportunity has presented itself," said Perry, a product of George Washington High School in Northeast Philadelphia. "We have a couple of injuries. Somebody has to move up and I'm just happy that it was me."
With the backfield of Ryan Moats, Lamar Gordon and Reno Mahe, Perry might not get many chances to play on offense.
But the 5-foot-10, 200-pound running back feels like he provides an alternative to what they provide.
"I'm a lot more physical sometimes," said Perry. "I'd rather take the blow to them rather than receive it. Moats has lots of speed, he has tons of it as you can see these last two games. He hits that corner and he's gone. Reno's a great receiver and Lamar's a great back. But I feel like I bring a little bit of speed and a little bit of

At 5:17 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

I think your all pathetic. All you have is trying to take personal shots because your team SUCKS. Awe poor Eagles fans. LOL. Its funny how none of you can say anything about football because your team is a joke. LOL. Like i said before, at least you can all find comfort in the fact that you have Reno Mahe locked up in a long term deal. LOL. Come on birds fans, say SOMETHING about football. LOL. Yeah that what it thought. LOL.

At 5:26 PM, Anonymous Anonymous said...

Hey big signing for the birds today. Bruce Perry should really help for the playoff push. LOL. Why dont the Eagles do the world a favor and forfeit their game on Sunday so FOX will put rerun's of the Simpsons on. LOL. Pretty sad that all you fans have to look forward to is watching the Eagles play AZ to try to get to .500 (and id be rooting against them if i were you, winning now only kills your draft seeding)

Hello boys! Wow you guys are so mad all the time. LOL. Must be because your forced to watch that AWFUL, PATHETIC football team of yours for two more weeks. LOL. But im sure you guys probably dont watch anymore. Im sure you only watch when your team is doing good, which isn't going to be for awhile for you guys. LOL. Hey did anyone see the big signing yesterday? Im sure your all very happy to hear the birds got Bruce Perry back. LOL. That should really help for the big game on Sunday. I read an article in the USA Today that said that Fox was considering putting on the World Figure Skating Championships instead of the eagles game on Sunday (and actually im serious about this one). Are any of you guys going to tailgate before the big game on Sunday? LOL. WHAT A JOKE!!! The eagles suck, and they aren't going anywhere this year or next year or the year after that either. They got really old, really fast and have a ton of holes on their team. So be patient boys. Hey one question; isn't it a great feeling to watch your team raise the Lombardi trophy at the end of the season? Oh i forgot the eagles have never accomplished that, not in 40 years. They are 0-40. LOL. Good luck this Sunday guys. LOL. How sad. LOL. Boo Hoo Eagles fans. LOL. Awe i feel so bad. Well theres always NEXT YEAR. LOL. Listen face the facts; THE EAGLES SUCK!!! LOL.
