No Turning Back on T.O.

Last week before the decision was made, it was this reporter's opinion that the Eagles shouldn't suspend T.O. The reasoning was that the Eagles had put up with T.O.'s B.S. so long that they might as well take advantage of the one area where he could help them - making big plays.
Yet once the decision was made, now there is no turning back. Whoever wrote the apology for T.O. that he read in front of his home, did a great job.
It was the equivalent of T.O. getting on his knees and begging to play again. Yet the Eagles took a stance and to go back on it now would be a major mistake.
It would also be a major surprise. The Eagles went further with T.O. than anybody who follows this organization closely could believe.
The constant turmoil and the numerous disruptions showed that he put himself above the team. And during the Andy Reid era, the Eagles have prided themselves on being a cohesive unit, with no need or desire for individualism.
The Eagles at time appeared like a weak organization when they looked the other way during many of T.O.'s antics. Once they made the bold move, they can't change their mind, or there is the chance that he organization can lose the entire locker room.
Don't be fooled by Reggie Brown's strong game against the Redskins. The Eagles will sorely miss T.O. on the field. And if he ever goes to his current hometown team, the Atlanta Falcons, then they would become the NFC favorite - for next year.
It's highly unlikely that T.O. will play again this year and that fact hit him square in the chops, which is why he was publicly begging for another chance.
T.O. will get another chance somewhere, but he will now have to prove that he can act like a civilized human being. The apology he made to the Eagles, might impress other teams and in a way, he did it for future suitors, because the Eagles sure shouldn't and likely won't reconsider their decision to take him back.

I think that his apologolgy probably saved his career from going off of a cliff. He will get another chance to redeem himself, but he has to realize that his chances are dwindling to a precious few.

Listen, no Super Bowl Iggles fan. But don't fret, I'm sure the Giants or Cowbosy will make it, so at least it will be from the same division.

It was the Eagles stubborn attitude that got them in this mess, and I'm sure the same stubborness will prevail. The are as much to blame as Owens in this mess. So, they are gonna get what they deserve. No playoffs, no Super Bowl, and when all is said and done, no sympathy from any one. I hope they are happy with having all that money under the cap, which seems to be all they are interested in.

In the town with the Liberty Bell
Played a disgruntled wide-out, Terrell.
He tortured McNabb
With a mean verbal jab,
‘Til at last from the roster he fell.

In Philly, star Eagle Terrell
Put his coach and his teammates though hell.
He shot off his mouth
As the team headed south...
Plays no more ‘neath the Liberty Bell.

In the City of Brotherly Love
Andy Reid watched his team from above.
Told T.O. “Take a hike!
Now say what you like.
If you need it, I’ll give you a shove!”

An Iggles fan living in Redskins country.

Owens & Rosenhaus are made for each other: two self-absorbed egos! Too bad Owens didn't keep his other agent. Too bad Owens hasn't learned to keep his big mouth shut! It was definitely a positive move on the Eagles' behalf: if Terrell doesn't get paid then Drew doesn't get paid. The players ought to boycott that agent!

Hindsight being 20/20, wouldn't Plaxico Burress look much better in green than Me 0?

The Eagles are probably toast for this year. I'm tired just reading about T.O. I can't imagine living it every day in the locker room. The identity of this team will return, but it may take some time. Don't be too hard on the Eagles. They were lured by the talent and tried to overlook the craziness. It was just a poor fit for this organization. They will be back, but we may have to wait until next year.

We should all be really pissed.
The Birds are closer to Beagledom
than many of us realize. We got sold a bill of goods.
It's starting to sink in....
These guys suck.

I can't believe it has all imlpoded like this.Lito Sheppard
should be fitted for a little red dress and a pair of earrings.
Dhani Jones is mediocre at best,
the Dline can't get going,no up-pressure...that equals CBs and safeties getting torched. They were never that good,I guess. This is an inferior product to the team put out on the field 5 years ago.
Guys,we got suckered.
The Birds Mgmnt has decided to
have a rebuilding year and didn't bother telling us.
Shit.

think what you want, I'm a believer in the system. Andy has done a lot with a little before. This year he's left with little to work with yet he has one thing he's always had. A group of guys who want to win. I've got more faith in the eagles, the orgainization, the players, and the coaches than I do in the other three NFC east teams. At least this year I won't have to shell out big $ to see the Eagles play in the NFC championship game at the Linc. I'm up for a road trip.

Now that TO is out - and we saw it in Washington - the other receivers will gel and start making plays. I predict a 6-2 second half with the Eagles making at least a Wild Card berth. Remember - we made the NFC Championship all 4 years without TO - and won it last year. Have faith!

Plenty of time left. We will be up for the Cowboys and Giants. Maybe they will peak late, hopefully not too late. There's many reasons we won the NFC East 4 years straight, and many of them are still here. So keep the faith. We could easily be 2 - 6 right now, so given that, 4 - 4 is not great but not insurmountable either. Look at the Patriots, many injuries, 4 - 4 also.

Look, even with T.O. gone, the distractions are going to continue because no one will let this thing go. But the other problem with this team has nothing to do with T.O. - it's the injuries. Let's face it; this is a crippled team and that's why they're a shadow of their former selves. Keep criticizing guys like Jevon Kearse, whose shoulder wraps were visible every time he moved, or the quarterback who would play with a bloody stump. THAT is why we're not going back to the Big Game this year. This team did just fine before T.O. and healthy, they could do even better.

you guys are nuts to put all the blame on TO. The real reason for the demise of the eagles is the poor playcalling of Andy and shoddy play of Donovan. No matter how wrong it seem, TO is rite about Donovan. He cost the iggles the super bowl and has been mainly responsible for the poor start. Everybody wants to talk about TO and his relationship with QB. He had great relationship with Steve Young. What happened to Garcia after TO left? He floundered and is now back up to one of the worst QB in the league, joEY Harrington. This will be the fate of the Mcnabb! He is not accurate and people thinking criticizing him is like criticizing all black QB!. He is nice guy but nice guys dont cut it in the NFL.He was able to win the last few yrs bcos the NFC especially the east has been so weak. So dont glorify Andy and Mcnabb. Yes TO lacks social skills but what he says is really the truth!!!!!!! And the lousy eagles management. They should have traded him early in the season and gone after Plaxico. They refused to pay him and asked for this trouble. They have a good PR team and all the philly journalists sucking up to management to stuff free food and passes. They will turn on management once the eagles have 2 losing seasons. I dont see the eagles winning the division in the next 5yrs now that Eli is getting his feet wet and Parcells has his boys ready. We the iggles fans are to blame ourselves for the rush to get rid of TO. What does Banner and lurie make annually? It is not like season tickets were reduced this yr by them not paying TO. Let me check we had to pay our Taxes to build the stadium and the eagles are benefiting from it. Why doesnt lurie pay the state and city back since he has made tonnes of money from the eagles in the last few yrs????? That is what the journalists need to be asking instead of everyone toeing the company line

Great blog!. It will be interesting to see what happens to Mcnabb after TO? Will he be another Garcia, backup QB to worst QB in the league?? Running skills have diminished!

Eli and giants are going to rule the NFC east for the next several yrs!!!! Playoffs forget about it till 2010
