Westbrook Not Wonderful

Eagles running back Brian Westbrook is understandably frustrated. He wants to run the ball and coach Andy Reid hasn't called his number a whole lot.
Westbrook feels that a back can't get into a rhythm with 5-10 carries per game. Still, it is up to Westbrook to make the most of his attempts and in the last three games, he has come up short.
He gained 25 yards on 10 carries against San Diego. That was after gaining 12 yards on six carries against Dallas. And that followed his effort against Kansas City, where he totaled 15 yards on nine carries.
If you're keeping score, Westbrook didn't score those three games. He also gained just 52 yards on 25 carries.
To be fair, there haven't been a lot of holes to run through for Westbrook, which leads one to believe that since the Eagles run so infrequently, that both he and the offensive line are having trouble establishing any continuity.
What Westbrook has to do is force Reid to give him the ball more. And while we're at it, wouldn't it be nice if on crucial third down plays that Westbrook is on the field instead of Lamar Gordon?
Anyway, Reid's play-calling hasn't drawn raves for obvious reasons, but Westbrook has to make the most of his limited chances.
Even as a pass receiver, he has dropped some catchable balls, maybe trying to do too much. There is a lot of the seaosn left for Westbrook to redeem himself, and to show Reid that he is worthy of more handoffs. To this point, neither the play calling nor his performance has been up to standards.

I don't understand why Westbrook ever comes off the field. He is their most dangerous offensive weapon and needs to get more touches. where are the formations that get him isolated on an LB or SS. And can LJ Smith put a shoulder into someone instead of turning into every hit he takes in the middle of the field and coughing up the damn ball. where did he learn that move anyway?...Oh yeah, Rutgers!

Enough said. B.W. is getting shut down because teams are making it a point to shut him down. T.O. is getting shut down because it looks like he doesn't even care and L.J. is looking better this year as a result of the opposing D focusing on TO/BW. If LJ had come to Virginia Tech, he would've developed some skills.

Andy Reid is a moron. He like Mike Tice the original moron are under utilizing their running game. Westbrook needs more carries to get into a rhythm as well as open up the play action pass. It would also decrease the amount of punishment taken by McNabb.

Westbrrok is no big time RB.Face it.
I think the hubris this whole team had has led them to believe they're something they're not.The "building of a champion" phase was NOT over just because we went to(and lost in )a Super Bowl.

THAT is the problem. We are not done
building the perfect beast yet.
Andy Reid and the "geniuses"
in the front office need to wake up and smell the catbox.
No RB to speak of...sorry Westy..
no big time receiver but TO,weak linebacking except for Trotter.VERY weak TE.LJ is a fraudulent TE..a decent WR.
Tell me...would you take a 30 year old John Spagnola right now?A young Keith Jackson?Chad Lewis?Be honest.
The guy sucks.No TE game.
We were lucky last year. The NFC sucked and our divison sucked even more.
NOW we're getting a clearer view of the pennypinching jerks in the front office and the idiot playcalling Andy can get into at times.
We need to keep building. The job ain't done.

Westbrook can't "force" Reid to give him the ball. Reid has to make a focused effort to build a game plan that fits him. Where is the screen play, were is the draw play, quick flanker screen with Westbrook in the X, we dond't see any of that. Reid is the problem not Westbrook. Reid has to understand that the league knows McNab can't run and can't throw deep, and with that understanding other teams can concentrate on shutting down our normal plays called for Westbrook and T.O. So, we'll struggle and sputter until Reid game plans for that reality.

Anyone who believes Andy Reid is a moron or comparable to Mike Tice is a brainless fool. As for the running the ball - I would like to see a one - two punch with the running game. Westbrook with 13 to 15 carries a game and Gordon with 6 or 7 carries. The Eagles strenght is their passing game, so they should pass more than run. However, this week they will get the running game going. Denver's strength is their secondary. As for the person who thinks Reid is a moron, please turn-in your voter's card; I don't want you deciding elections.
